I would like to add that the Hon. Brian Peckford, former Premier of Newfoundland & Labrador for 10 years, and the only living drafter of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, has today also published an Open Letter to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, in support of Dr. Charles Hoffe:
Instead of hiring Deana Hinshaw (she of the $217K bonus beyond her $300K salary) from Alberta Health to be her Deputy, Dr. Bonnie Henry should have hired Dr. Charles Hoffe for the six-month contract. Perhaps Dr. Hoffe could then help the hapless Dr. Henry to connect the dots of the points in your letter and many other jaw dropping missteps and ill-conceived responses to the pandemic. Not that Dr. Hoffe would have wanted the six-month contract to work by Dr. Henry's side. But, something needs to happen to address Dr. Henry's seemingly remedial grasp of what she is in charge of. Excellent letter.
Hi Elizabeth. Thank you so much for writing this letter. The only thing that Dr. Hoffe is guilty of is having incredible foresight at a time when most of the world was not ready to hear the truth. I will also vouch for the integrity and expertise of Dr. Hoffe. All the colleges of physicians and surgeons throughout Canada have caused more harm than good throughout the last three years. They have destroyed the ability of physicians to exercise freedom of thought. They all need their leadership to be dismantled, investigated, and then re-built from the ground up with critically thinking doctors who will have the authority and backbone to speak their minds for the sake of the health of Canadians.
I received this email through the grapevine. I cannot vouch for the authenticity of the all of the content; there is a quote alleged to be by Dr. Hoffe.

Your help is URGENTLY needed to call, write letters (use fax), and emails to the College of Physician’s and Surgeons as the situation with Dr. Charles Hoffe and his legal defence has taken a real turn for the worse.
The powers that be have effectively set a trap for him.
What is also most concerning is Bill C 36, which was passed weeks ago.
It gives the authorities the capability to impose a fine of $200,000 with six months in jail for any Doctor who speaks “miss-information”.
To make matters even worse his lawyer has missed both deadlines to present any expert witnesses or any evidence for his defence AND his lawyer is now to sick to go to trial and yet they are so far refusing to postpone the trial leaving Dr. Charles Hoffe with no representation and no ability to even present any evidence himself.
I believe the authorities have waited this long to get these measures in place in order to make a example of Charles to prevent other Doctors from speaking up.
As you likely know, Dr. Charles Hoffe has been one of the only Doctors in B.C. to put everything on the line to get the truth out and I feel it is now our time to pay back a little by calling and sending letter to the College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr.Hoffe’s 10 day ONLINE TRIAL is fast approaching on Feb 13.
Please show your support by sending a email of support for Dr. Hoffe to the College of Physicians and Surgeons ASAP. If you have been his patient that is even better.
Please don’t mention specifics of why you consulted him but do mention things like your testimony about his ethics and level of concern for his patients and his character.
The college is not a scientific body and has absolutely no medical expertise and yet they are looking to convict Dr.Hoffe of “misinformation.” Clearly this is a witch hunt.
We have only a couple of days to flood the College with our letters of support, testimony and complaints.

“An urgent prayer request: My lawyer requested a postponement of my trial, because he had been hospitalized and unwell.
The college has contested the validity of this and has not approved the postponement yet.
They are planning a meeting to decide on this issue.
Meanwhile, the deadline for submitting evidence to be used in the trial, and for submitting notification of who the expert witnesses will be, has now passed.
So if they will not approve the postponement, I am going to court with no evidence for my defense! Meanwhile, with the college as the complainant, the investigator, the jury and the judge, this has all of the makings of a kangaroo court. …”

Thank you for writing this letter. Unfortunately in my experience as a freelance journalist investigating the potential harms of microwave-frequency radiation from wireless devices and cellphones, I found that health officials in Victoria are not interested in scientific facts. Repeatedly, researcher Sharon Noble of that city has delivered boxes full of peer-reviewed studies to health ministry offices, yet radiation exposure standards never change beyond the outmoded Safety Code 6 that was formulated in 1979, well before cellphones were even invented. Industry capture seems to explain it.

An unidentified party sent out an e-mail regarding Dr. Hoffe’s case on the weekend, and it has caused considerable misunderstanding and harm. Dr. Hoffe and I have reviewed the e-mail, and Dr. Hoffe has authorized me to correct misapprehensions resulting from it.
First, I have not missed any deadlines for Dr. Hoffe or any of my other physician clients. Dr. Hoffe was scheduled for a hearing at the College of Physicians in BC, which was to begin on February 12th. However, I experienced a serious adverse health event just before Christmas and ended up in the ER, and I am still recovering from the episode. Shortly after being discharged from the hospital, I notified the College that I would need an adjournment of the hearing on health grounds. At that time, all filing deadlines were provisionally suspended. Subsequently, I provided a medical note to the College in pursuit of the adjournment. Later today, February 7th, my external counsel in BC will appear at a College case conference to formally present the request for a re-scheduling of Dr. Hoffe’s hearing.
Second, Dr. Hoffe was charged under the old Health Professions Act. It is by no means clear at this point that the College has a right to try him under the new legislation, with its enhanced penalties. Those who suggest otherwise have jumped the gun.
Third, this e-mail was brought to my attention on Saturday evening when I attended the dinner for the Justice for the Vaccinated Conference in Toronto. During the pre-dinner reception, I learned that an attendee was spreading false information about my conduct of the Hoffe case and other physician cases on my docket. I had a meeting with her at the end of the evening in the presence of conference organizers. We had a professional and civilized conversation, and I was able to disabuse her of her mistaken views. However, another e-mail was soon circulated stating that we had been engaged in a “fight.” That is not true. The matter was resolved amicably.
Finally, some of the people who circulated the original e-mail know me or have social media connections with me. They could easily have reached out to me for clarification. If they had, this whole affair, which has been damaging for me and Dr. Hoffe, might been stopped in its tracks. Social media is a great way for us to share information and remain united in our efforts, but when it degenerates and becomes a rumour mill, as in this case, it harms the very people we are trying to help. Please think twice before tweeting, texting or posting unsubstantiated claims.
Having met Charles Hoffe, MD, and listened to him discuss his medical career starting in South Africa then Canada, I can vouch that he is one of the most honourable and experienced medical practitioners I have ever meet in my life. I grew up in a medical family. My uncle, Dr Hugh R. Williams, worked first as a GP, next for the BC provincial government as clinical Director of the Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Centre on West Broadway, then, finished his formal medical career working for Health Canada at the Sinclair Centre. He organized many projects, under numerous federal health ministers, on projects ranging from educating removal of asbestos, methadone treatment planning, and, as an immunization officer for the Port of Vancouver. I write the above to give some background to my views that we need more doctors like Dr Charles Hoffe, doctor who take the Hippocratic Oath seriously. I dare say, without a doubt in my mind, that Dr. Hoffe embodies the Hippocratic Oath which he swore to uphold. Where as Adrian Dix, the acting Minister of Health in BC, has a degree in Political Science, Mr Dix may say he follows the science, but the science he is following is Political Science , not medical science. Adrian Dix, in my estimation, does not embody the spirit or principles of the Hippocratic Oath. The correct path forward now is to acquit Dr Charles Hoffe from all claims against him. Let Dr Hoffe get back to helping his beloved patients who appreciate his skill, wisdom, and his sworn commitment to the Hippocratic Oath. Dr Charles Hoffe represents well the honourable relationship between patient and doctor. BC needs and deserves more doctor like Charles Hoffe. MD.
